Abdishakur Diriye

Abdishakur Diriye is a researcher and PhD student in climate change and food security early action with a special focus on pastoral livelihoods at the University of Edinburgh and the Jameel Observatory.
He is a motivated, team player, and results-oriented professional with over seven years of experience in academic and professional work experiences in Somalia and other countries including the UK, and China. His proven track record of research publications goes beyond climate change and food security and demonstrates his insights into econometric modelling, statistical analysis, and data visualization using software programs such as Python, RStudio, QGIS, Stata & SPSS.
He has published several research papers on sustainable land use policies aimed to mitigate charcoal-driven deforestation and land degradation using both quantitative and qualitative methods with great writing skills. His previous roles include climate change and environmental policy officer, environmental policy research assistant, and sustainable energy consultant. His current PhD research focuses on Anticipatory Action particularly forecast-based microfinancing programs such as drought index insurance for Somali Pastoral Livelihood Resiliency. Abdishakur supports TIGAAL as a strategic researcher advisor and serves as a lead researcher on climate-related projects.
